The Quiet Fracture™ • Wild Grace™
The Quiet Fracture™ is the slow separation that happens when external expectations override your internal alignment. You may still be functioning. Still showing up. But something inside you knows the distance is growing.
It doesn’t announce itself. It doesn’t look like a breakdown. From the outside, everything seems fine. You are capable. Reliable. The one people count on.
But on the inside, something has been slowly shifting. The drift starts small. A boundary quietly crossed. A need quietly buried. A version of yourself quietly set aside.
“Burnout is the smoke. The Quiet Fracture™ is the fire underneath it. You cannot put out a fire by treating the smoke.”
The key to stopping the drift isn’t rest. It’s realignment. One direction at a time. One decision at a time. Back to center.
Find Your Starting PointSome women want language for what they are feeling. Others need a quieter doorway back to themselves. Both ways of beginning are welcome here.
If you are trying to make sense of what you have been carrying, the Quiet Fracture Inventory offers a clear place to begin. It can help you recognize where disconnection may be quietly taking root in your life.
If you do not want to analyze anything right now and simply need a grounded moment of reconnection, step into the Anchored in Grace digital shuffle deck inside Heights. It offers a gentle, reflective space to pause, breathe, and receive what is here for you today.
A compass doesn’t tell us who to be. It simply points us home. Each direction is a different aspect of the journey back to yourself, one direction at a time.
Who are you beneath the noise? North calls you back to the woman you have always been.
Your voice. Your boundaries. Your power. East is where you take it back.
When your actions no longer reflect your values, South steadies the course.
A life that reflects your truth. West is where you build it intentionally.
Joy. Purpose. Presence. The Center is where you remember that you are the source.
A gentle beginning for the woman who is ready to come home to herself. The book walks you through each compass direction with horse wisdom, reflection practices, and the framework for lasting realignment.
Not a self-help book. A map. Because you don’t need to be fixed. You need a way back.

Join the CallI am Shawn Marie Paul, trauma-informed equine-assisted coach, author, and founder of Wild Grace™ and The Quiet Fracture™. My work began long before horses entered my world. I spent more than two decades as a battered women’s advocate, witnessing what happens when a woman loses herself inside the weight of what is expected of her.
Then it happened to me. Two years in a deepening fracture. Still capable. Still delivering. Still the one people counted on. And completely disconnected from the woman I had set out to be.
I had a name for what I saw in others, burnout. But that didn’t seem to capture what was happening inside me.
I later defined it as The Quiet Fracture™. The slow drift that happens when external expectations override your internal alignment, so quietly you don’t notice until the distance feels enormous.
The horses found it first. When I brought them home to Sunflower Ranch, something shifted. Not through riding, but through presence. Through the kind of honest, unhurried mirroring that only a horse can offer. They showed me where I had gone quiet. And slowly, they showed me the way back.
Wild Grace™ grew from that return. It is not one thing. It is an ecosystem built for women who are ready to stop drifting and start finding their way home. The Wild Grace Compass™ is the map. The Anchored in Grace™ deck is the daily touchstone. The Wild Grace Virtual Sanctuary™ is the herd, an online membership community where women gather across miles to do this work together, because horses have always known what we sometimes forget: healing is not a solo journey.
The herd does not need you to be in the same pasture to hold space for you. Horses teach us that attunement, shared rhythm, and honest presence can travel. Whether you come to Sunflower Ranch to stand with the horses in person, or you join us virtually from your couch, the wisdom is the same. You belong to this herd. You are not walking this alone.
“You don’t have to burn it all down to find yourself. Becoming is a path paved with wild grace.”Explore the Method
Each card aligns with a compass direction and its color. Pull one as a daily touchstone. A moment of clarity. A breath of truth between the demands of the day.
And they work as patterns over time. Pull a card each day and notice what the herd reveals about where you are and where you’re going.
North’s sage. East’s rose. South’s slate. West’s periwinkle. Center’s gold. The colors deepen the work. Let them guide you home.

Limited weekends available Inquire About Retreats: 612-429-1186When a team is misaligned, you feel it. In the meetings that go sideways. In the leaders who are present in body but absent in presence. In the culture that asks people to perform while quietly fracturing underneath.
Our onsite leadership workshops bring your team to Sunflower Ranch for a half-day intensive that no conference room can replicate. Horses don’t respond to titles. They respond to congruence. Your team will leave with that awareness, and the tools to build on it.
When Brady placed his nose right on my chest and rested it there, it took my breath away. That is right where I was feeling so scared and anxious. I felt him lift that. It was just gone. I don’t know when the last time was that I felt this light and free. Maybe never in my lifetime.
Miss M.I continue to be in awe of this experience. I have been carrying a lot of heaviness, but I feel SO hopeful now.
Miss C.My experience with the coaching sessions was eye-opening and life-changing. Transformations were happening all over in our group.
Miss B. & Miss D.I wasn’t sure about all the talk about energy, but I experienced it for myself. This stuff is life-changing. Can’t wait for our next retreat. My sister is going to join us on that one.
Miss A.I can’t believe Shawn even got my sister to participate with the horses. Something shifted for every single one of us that weekend.
Miss D.I have been carrying a lot of heaviness. But I feel SO hopeful now. That is the only word I have. Hopeful. It has been a long time since I felt that.
Retreat ParticipantMy horses are not props, gimmicks, or tools. They are my partners and sentient beings with ancient instincts, distinct personalities, and the kind of honesty no human mirror can replicate. Each one carries medicine for this work.
Minnie is the mare who holds space without asking anything in return. Her breath is slow. Her presence is certain. She has a gift for finding the exact place in a person where the weight lives and simply standing there, until it softens.
“She reminds me that realignment is not about becoming someone new. It’s about peeling away the layers until your core breathes again.”
Lettie is breathtaking. Sleek, powerful, and bred for speed. But beneath the elegance is a wild spirit who bucks, rears, and gallops as if she is chasing the wind itself. She is pure, embodied joy. She does not wait for permission to feel alive.
“Lettie reminds me that joy doesn’t wait for perfection. It rises from presence. She is freedom taking shape.”
Wally is blind. And endlessly attuned. When he joined a new herd, the others tested him. He did not push or retreat. He simply stood his ground with quiet confidence until the herd accepted him. His resilience does not roar. It is the steady choice to keep showing up.
“Wally lives post-traumatic growth every single day. He trusts that his presence has value, even when others cannot yet see it.”
Aksel watches before he engages. He takes in the full picture quietly, and his response when it comes is precise. Nothing is wasted. He reflects back what is real, not what someone hopes is true. He has a way of revealing the gap between what we present and what we feel.
“Horses like Aksel reveal, without judgment, when our energy no longer matches our truth.”
Cass is magnetic. A striking Pintabian who commands attention without effort. He is a firm leader who does not tolerate disrespect, and he does not apologize for knowing his worth. He teaches the women who work with him that power and grace are not opposites.
“Cass reminds us that reclaiming your power means commanding your space clearly, calmly, and without apology.”
Bentley does not rush connection. He watches from afar, listens with his whole body, and takes his time before deciding whether to come closer.
He reflects the part of you that is still learning to feel safe again. His presence asks for patience, consistency, and respect for timing that is not your own. When Bentley does choose connection, it is honest, earned, and deeply felt.
“Trust is not something to take. It is something to be given, in its own time.”
Henry is a Tennessee Walker who embodies the power of stillness. While other horses move or react when unsure, Henry pauses. He observes, listens, and waits for clarity before taking a step. In a world that glorifies busyness, he teaches that stopping is not failure. It is wisdom.
“Stillness is not stagnation. Henry shows us it is the sacred space where awareness and direction are born.”
The Quiet Fracture™ Awareness Inventory™ offers an honest look at where the drift has taken hold and where you may want to begin. It is free and waiting for you inside Heights.
Brady gave me back my life.
He was my heart horse, my first true partner in this work, and the one who knew how to move me out of my head and into my heart. Through him, I was able to understand something I had never fully been able to reach before. He opened the doorway to Wild Grace.
So much of what lives here was born through him. The way I listen. The way I trust what is felt. The way I hold space for women returning to themselves. Brady is woven through all of it.
Though he left the physical realm in October 2025, he has never stopped being part of this work. He still comes through each morning when I pull my cards. He is present in the herd, in this space, and in everything I create.
The work is grounded in this land, these horses, and this herd. Whether you are joining us virtually or coming to the ranch, you are welcome here.
